What You Can Control

A fully-automated pool puts every system under your fingertips — whether you’re sitting on the deck or halfway around the world.

Variable-Speed Pump

Set custom speed schedules for different times of day — run at low speed overnight for filtration and high speed for vacuuming or water features.

Heater & Temperature

Set your desired temperature from your phone. Your pool will be at your preferred warmth by the time you have dinner.

LED Lighting

Choose from millions of colors, set themes, or schedule lighting to turn on at sunset automatically — transforming your pool every evening.

Water Features

Control waterfalls, deck jets, bubblers, and rain curtains individually or grouped into preset scenes with a single tap.

Salt Chlorine Generator

Monitor salt levels, adjust chlorine output percentage, and receive alerts when cell cleaning is needed — all from the app.

Safety Covers & Gates

Compatible systems can integrate automatic pool covers and security gates into the same control interface for added convenience and safety.

Automation Platforms We Install

We work with all leading pool automation platforms. The right choice depends on your existing equipment, budget, and how much you want to integrate.

How Automation Pays for Itself

Smart scheduling and speed control are the biggest ROI drivers in pool automation — especially when paired with a variable-speed pump.

Optimized Pump Schedules

Run your pump at the lowest speed needed for each task — slow overnight circulation, higher speeds during filter cleaning. Automation makes this hands-off and consistent.

Heater Scheduling

Stop heating your pool around the clock. Set the heater to reach your target temperature an hour before you swim — and disable it automatically overnight.

Utility Rebates

Many Virginia and Maryland utilities offer rebates for installing variable-speed pumps with automation controls. We can advise on rebates available in your area.

Leak & Fault Alerts

Most automation systems send app notifications for equipment faults, chemical alerts, and unusual water levels — catching issues before they become expensive failures.

Full Service Coverage

Often paired with pump & lighting upgrades

Pool automation installs are most cost-effective when bundled with a variable-speed pump replacement or LED lighting upgrade. View our complete service catalog.

What Our Customers Say

Trusted by homeowners across Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
GZ

Robert Moore coordinates pool cleaning assignments and contracts and does an excellent job of organizing pool cleaning/repair visits. Dragan Kostadinovic is my " go to" man for organizing pool cleanings and making major repairs to our older pool, including underground hose repairs, skimmer replacements, and rebuilding and replacing pumps and valves and filters above ground. He has one particular employee who is an experienced genius in regard to determining the water flow of valves and determining solutions to complex problems. We eventually will ask them to reline the plaster in our pool because I seriously do not TRUST anyone else to do it. Beltway Pools saved us when our pool was leaking. The team was quick to diagnose the issue, and Dragan made sure everything was fixed properly. The repair process was smooth and efficient.

April 2023

I reviewed multiple proposals on rebuilding a pool upon the purchase of our new house. The previous owner had deferred maintenance on literally every aspect of the pool. Our pool required 100% replacement of the filtration system, heater, skimmers and reconstruction of the drainage system, pool floor, tile and coping. Beltway Pools was by far the most responsive of the bidders with the most reasonable and easiest to understand pricing. Anything that I required clarity on they provided. We now are almost a year past the initial work and they did not deviate one penny from their original pricing. They continue to support us with weekly visits (incremental cost but well worth it) for cleaning and chemical balancing. We are very pleased with our service from Beltway Pools. -Andrew T. Pool Automation — Frequently Asked Questions

How much does pool automation cost to install in Virginia or Maryland?

Pool automation installation cost in the DMV depends on the system tier and scope of integration:

  • Wi-Fi add-on module (e.g., Pentair IntelliConnect®) — $400–$900 installed
  • Mid-range full automation system (e.g., Jandy iAquaLink®) — $1,500–$3,000 installed
  • Premium flagship system (e.g., Pentair IntelliCenter®, Hayward OmniLogic®) — $2,500–$5,000+ installed

Pricing includes equipment, wiring, programming, and a full owner walkthrough. If electrical panel work is required, that is quoted separately. Request a quote for your specific equipment setup.

Can I add automation to my existing pool without replacing all my equipment?

In most cases, yes — especially if your equipment is from a major manufacturer (Pentair, Jandy, Hayward). Options include:

  • Wi-Fi add-on modules — plug into existing equipment without replacing it (e.g., Pentair IntelliConnect® for compatible pumps and lighting)
  • Full automation panel upgrade — replaces your existing timer/control box and integrates all equipment into one system

The right approach depends on your equipment age, brand compatibility, and how much you want to control. We assess your existing setup during a site visit and recommend the most cost-effective integration path.

What is the difference between Pentair IntelliCenter® and IntelliConnect®?

These are two very different products at opposite ends of the Pentair automation lineup:

  • IntelliConnect® — A budget Wi-Fi add-on module (~$400–$900 installed) that adds smartphone control to compatible existing Pentair equipment. It does not replace your existing control panel and has limited integration with non-Pentair equipment.
  • IntelliCenter® — Pentair's flagship full automation system (~$2,500–$4,500 installed). It replaces your existing control box with a complete panel, features a color touchscreen, controls all pool equipment (pump, heater, lighting, water features, salt system), and offers deep scheduling, energy monitoring, and remote access via the ScreenLogic app.

If you want comprehensive control of all your pool systems through one unified platform, IntelliCenter® is the right choice. IntelliConnect® suits homeowners who already have Pentair equipment and simply want to add app control on a budget.

Does pool automation actually save money on energy?

Yes — when paired with a variable-speed pump, pool automation can dramatically reduce energy consumption. Specific savings mechanisms include:

  • Pump speed scheduling — running the pump at the minimum speed needed for each task (overnight filtration vs. vacuuming vs. water features) can cut pump electricity use by 60–90%
  • Heater scheduling — only heating when needed rather than maintaining temperature 24/7
  • Lighting schedules — automatically turning off overnight instead of running all night

Many Virginia and Maryland electric utility companies also offer rebates for variable-speed pump installations paired with automation controls. We can advise on available rebates in your area during your consultation.
